I wrote this to ease splitting chapters for Faerie. Since it uses the standard temp_db structure, it could be used to cleanup other archives as well.
This PR adds
chapter_editor.py, a Tkinter GUI script that reads a chapter from the output database and allows the operator to perform either operation interactively.Split — operator clicks in the rendered text to set a split point. The original chapter is updated with the text before that point (title renamed to [Title] Part 1), a new chapter is inserted immediately after it (title [Title] Part 2), and all subsequent chapters in the story have their position incremented.
Trim — operator selects a range of text. The chapter is updated to contain only that selection. No chapters are added or reordered.
Chapter text is displayed with HTML stripped and block-level tags converted to newlines for readability. The split/trim operates on the raw HTML stored in the database. Both operations are atomic and roll back on error.
Usage:
python chapter_editor.py -p <archive>.yml --chapter_id <id>Requires Python compiled with Tcl/Tk support (python -m tkinter to verify).
