Support for other plugins

Suggestion

Skript currently has stuff like add "nerd" to groups of player or set player's prefix to "" but I feel like these things are a bit outdated so I have a few suggestions: More stuff like add "nerd" to groups of player for 5 minutes would be cool (Luckperms supports adding groups to player for duration) additional stuff like adding permission to player (for duration optional) would also be cool.
And yeah the player's prefix is added cause you can use what groupmanager etc with it but realistically I don't see anyone using these and if skript is on track to be more modern (adding support for minimessage in future) I don't see why not

I also think stuff for PlaceholderAPI would be cool its something thats widely used and about as common as Luckperms (obviously for stuff like this it wouldn't be like skript-placeholders just basic stuff like getting value of a placeholder)

now obviously none of these syntaxes would work without provided plugin

Additional: Why do the things like player's prefix in vanilla skript use vault? Surely theres no need for it if skript can hook into the plugins directly
(this is suggesting that skript makes player's prefix only support luckperms and such)

Vault is a bridge between permission/economy plugins and Skript (or other plugins). It exists so you don't have to provide support for each permission/balance plugin separately
In the future I recommend creating a different issue for each feature request so they can be discussed and completed separately

but is vault really required I assume you are using it cause you have support for stuff like groupmanager

for multiple suggestions: idk I feel like they are on same topic of just adding syntaxes from top plugins

edit: I guess vault is needed considering the insane amount of currency plugins so exclude that from this suggestion

Vault is technically not required, but then you would be supporting only 1 plugin. Supporting all permission plugins would be lots of work and it would be just reinventing the wheel.

About the plugin support we generally try to stay away from supporting other plugins unless we absolutely have to (ex. Vault) and leave that part to addons, because we have to track the plugin's updates to make sure there are no breaking changes and all syntaxes are working correctly.

There are currently a few other supported plugins like WorldGuard and other region plugins, but we are working on removing them from Skript and making them their own thing (see skript-worldguard)

and worst case stuff breaks one summers eve likely a small fix or very worst case you remove it from sk

Yes, like eren said, I would rather see a proper luckperms addon rather than bundling it further into Skript, just like how we're moving regions out of Skript and into skript-worldguard.

An official skript-luckperms add-on would be great, it's probably quite difficult to get right because LuckPerms operates mostly asynchronously.

If someone has time to set up an MVP, like with basic support for groups, tracks, and expiring permissions that would be neat.
